Marketing Manager

We’re seeking an experienced, reliable marketer who can work efficiently and independently.

We're a children's art school looking for a reliable freelance marketer to manage our social media presence and email marketing on an ongoing monthly retainer.

This is a part-time, long-term engagement β€” not a one-off project. We want someone who can take ownership of these two channels and keep them running consistently, month after month.

What You'll Do

Email Marketing

  • Draft and send bi-weekly newsletter emails (class updates, student spotlights, upcoming events, seasonal highlights)

  • Promotional emails for enrollment periods, camps, workshops, and special offers (up to 4/month)

  • Set up and maintain automated sequences: welcome series for new subscribers, follow-up for class inquiries, re-engagement for lapsed families

  • Manage and grow our email list

  • All emails should be drafted, reviewed by us, and sent on a consistent schedule

Social Media β€” Instagram

  • Create and post 3-4x per week (a mix of photos, Reels, Stories)

  • Content types: student artwork, class highlights, behind-the-scenes, enrollment reminders, parent testimonials

  • Write captions, use relevant hashtags, and engage with comments/DMs

  • Provide a simple monthly content calendar for our review before posting

Tools We Use

  • Email: Mailchimp

  • Social scheduling: looking for recommendation

  • Design: Canva

  • Reels: Capcut

What We're Looking For

  • Experience with small or local businesses (bonus if you've worked with kids' programs, education, or family-oriented brands)

  • Can handle both social media and email β€” we want one person, not two

  • Strong writing skills with a warm, approachable, parent-friendly tone

  • Comfortable creating simple graphics in Canva (we will provide photos/videos of classes and artwork and a style guide)

  • Proactive β€” you suggest ideas and improvements, not just wait for direction

  • Responsive communication (we don't need daily calls, but timely replies matter)

How We'll Work Together

We want you to own these channels β€” but with clear direction from us each month. Here's the workflow:

1. Monthly brief from us (start of each month): We'll send you a short message with what we're promoting in the upcoming month, any key dates, and new photos or content to work with. Example: "This month's focus is birthday party packages. Registration for fall classes opens the 15th. Here are photos from last week's watercolor class."

2. You build the plan: Based on our brief, you draft the two bi-weekly emails and create the Instagram content calendar for the month.

3. We review and approve: We'll review your email drafts and content calendar before anything goes live. This is usually quick β€” approvals or minor edits.

4. You execute: Once approved, you send the emails on schedule and post to Instagram throughout the month.

5. End-of-month recap: A quick async update (or short call) where you’ll present what performed well, what to adjust, and any ideas for next month. Then we repeat.

The goal: you spend your time creating and executing, not waiting on us. We spend ~30 minutes a month on the brief and a few minutes reviewing drafts.

Budget & Structure

  • $1,000/month fixed retainer

  • Estimated ~20 hours/month of work

  • Month-to-month β€” no long-term contract required, but we're looking for someone who wants a steady, ongoing client

  • Weekly email or slack responsiveness

  • Brief monthly check-in call to review what's working

To Apply, send an email to makeart@cornerhousestudio with:

1. A brief intro β€” who you are and why this role is a good fit

2. Examples of email campaigns or newsletters you've created

3. 1–2 examples of Instagram accounts you've managed

4. Your availability to start
