Meet our team
CHS is run by a small-but-mighty crew. We bring kind teacher energy, and the calm, watchful vibe of someone who can spot a loose glue-stick cap from 30 feet away.
Jen Tank
Founder + program Director
Hi! I’m Ms. Jen, the founder of Corner House Studio.
Before I opened Corner House, I spent 20 years working as a creative director in tech and brand design. Over time, I noticed something that surprised me—even among professional designers: so many people didn’t believe they were “creative,” or felt intimidated by art because someone told them early on that they “can’t draw.”
Corner House Studio is my way of going to the source. Childhood is where creative confidence is kept—or lost. I wanted to create a place where kids learn real skills, try bold ideas, and keep their belief in themselves intact.
At Corner House, I lead our curriculum vision and teaching approach—making sure our projects are inspiring, skill-building, and designed to help each child feel proud and capable.
What Ms. Jen brings to Corner House:
Creative career credibility — 20 years as a creative + studio director designing for major brands (yes, you can make a living being creative).
Carefully crafted programming & curriculum— clear demos and strong foundations plus room for personal style and big ideas.
A high-bar, high-care studio culture — beautiful materials, thoughtful projects, and calm systems that keep kids safe and supported.
B Colleen
Studio manager
Ms. B is the reason everything feels calm, organized, and cared for at Corner House Studio. She’s the person keeping everything running behind the scenes, supporting teachers in the studios, and making sure every child is safe and supported—especially the kids who need a little extra help.
Ms. B is also an artist through and through. She graduated from San Francisco State University (2024) with a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art. Her personal work celebrates cultural and personal origins through portraiture, memory, and motif—with a special love for eyes and hands as expressive storytelling tools. She’s a true multi-medium maker, with painting and drawing at the core.
What Ms. B brings to Corner House:
Calm, capable energy that keeps the studio running smoothly
A strong “duty of care” instinct—she notices what others miss
Deep love for kids and the joy they bring to creating
An art teacher’s mindset: art as expression, play, and confidence-building
Miya Galvan
art teacher
Ms. Miya specializes in working with our youngest artists— she has that rare gift for connecting with little kids instantly and brings playful energy, warmth, and the kind of presence that helps kids feel brave enough to try.
Before Corner House, Miya worked as with Beat the Streets, an LA-based sports-based youth development program. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from San Francisco State, and her personal work includes character illustration, original painting that highlights her Hispanic heritage, and sculptural work in cardboard and ceramics.
In Ms. Miya’s classes, you’ll see:
Lots of encouragement and playful momentum
Gentle structure that helps younger kids succeed
A focus on confidence, exploration, and “I did it!” moments
Abby weatherbee
art teacher
Ms. Abby is quiet, thoughtful, and deeply intentional—especially with our older students. She’s wonderful with artists who are more reserved or sensitive, and she has a gift for helping kids build real skills in a calm, non-overwhelming way.
Abby is a systems thinker who is always looking for ways to uplevel our teaching—through better lesson planning, smarter skill-building exercises, and clear steps that help kids grow without getting frustrated.
She’s currently pursuing her BA in Studio Art at San Francisco State.
In Ms. Abby’s classes, you’ll see:
Gentle, steady support, especially with our quieter kids
Thoughtful exercises and demonstrations that build real skill
A calm classroom culture where kids can focus and go deeper
