Our Classes

We offer three fun, age-appropriate studio art classes. Each session brings exciting new projects and creative challenges to keep young artists to exploring their creativity year after year!

Art Explorers

for Kids ages 4-7

In our Art Explorers class, young artists dive into a world of creativity, discovery, and hands-on fun! This structured yet playful series introduces foundational art concepts while nurturing imagination, confidence, and creative expression. Each session offers opportunities to paint, draw, sculpt, and print using a wide range of exciting materials like clay, watercolor, fabric, and pastels. Along the way, children build fine motor skills, expand their art vocabulary, and learn to express themselves through color, shape, and line. With every project, they practice focus, patience, and creative thinking. With fresh themes and projects each session, Art Explorers is a class kids can enjoy again and again!

    • Basic Art Concepts: Children are introduced to fundamental art concepts and vocabulary, including elements like color, shape, and line.

    • Fine Motor Skills: Through activities like drawing, painting, sculpting, printmaking, cutting, and pasting, children develop fine motor skills.

    • Exploration of Materials: We provide a variety of materials each series such as clay, fabric, oil pastels, watercolor paint, and natural objects, and explore their creative uses.

    • Patience & Focus: Children engage in projects that require multiple class sessions to complete, learning to delay gratification and build up their work.

    • Expressing Emotions through Art: We encourage children to use colors, shapes, and lines to express their feelings. Concepts like “expression,” “mood,” and “emotion” are explored.

Fine Art Foundations

for Kids ages 8-11

Our Fine Art Foundations class is designed for kids who are ready to deepen their artistic skills and explore more advanced concepts. In this structured, skill-building series, young artists learn core visual art principles—like color theory, composition, and the difference between abstract and representational art—while creating original works in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media. Students practice techniques such as blending, layering, and drawing from observation, and are introduced to a wide range of fine art materials including charcoal, watercolor pencils, pastels, and clay. Each session encourages creative problem-solving, artistic expression, and confidence as students take on new challenges and refine their technique.

    • Visual Art Concepts and Vocabulary: Artists are introduced to foundational art concepts and vocabulary including basic color theory, how to create an interesting composition, and the fundamentals of abstract vs. representational art.

    • Drawing & Painting Technique: Artists practice drawing from observation and learn various painting techniques such as blending, stippling, and layering to create exceptional work.

    • 3D Art and Sculpture: We encourage three-dimensional thinking by working with clay, plaster, and other sculpting materials in every series.

    • Fine Art Mediums: We introduce a variety of materials, such as pastels, charcoal, watercolors, acrylic and mixed media, teaching the properties of each medium and how to use them effectively.

Teen Studio Art

For Artists ages 12+

Teen Studio is a dynamic weekly art class designed for teens ready to take their creativity to the next level with the perfect balance of structure and independence. New students begin with three foundational projects that introduce our studio tools, materials, and routines while allowing teachers to assess each student’s skills and interests. From there, artists can pursue more self-directed projects, developing their personal style and exploring the mediums that most inspire them.

Whether your artist is looking to refine their skills or simply want a space to create and connect, Teen Studio is a supportive, inspiring place to grow as an artist.

    • Advanced Visual Art Concepts and Vocabulary: Artists are introduced to more advanced visual art concepts and vocabulary including balance, composition, contrast, emphasis, and rhythm.

    • Painting & Drawing from Observation: Artists practice drawing and painting from observation, learning to create 3d form through shading and adding details.

    • 3D Art and Sculpture: We encourage three-dimensional thinking by working with clay, papier-mâché, cardboard or other sculpting materials to create more advanced sculptural work.

    • Fine Art Mediums: We introduce a variety of materials, such as pastels, charcoal, watercolor pencils, and mixed media, teaching the properties of each medium and how to use them effectively.

    • Contemporary Artists and Art Movements: Students are introduced to contemporary artists, their work and techniques. We explore different art styles such as Street Art, Surrealism, and Abstract Art.Description text goes here

Building Creative Confidence at Every Age

We’ve carefully designed our classes to be age appropriate and adaptable, ensuring that all students are challenged according to their abilities. The key to making these age groups successful is our focus on open-ended projects and teaching techniques rather than overly contrived craft projects. By introducing new creative challenges with each series, we ensure that students remain engaged and can continue their artistic journey over multiple years. We hope you’ll join us!
